February 20, 2013. Welcome    to this week's newsletter, which features our annual list of the 100 most popular cities and towns at Topretirements.com. Plus, we are looking for your input about what's going on in the movie business - suddenly retirement is the hot theme in Hollywood!  Please tell us your favorite movies about retirement, and what are your thoughts about what they are saying about you?

Once again the Sunbelt dominates our annual list - 76 of the 100 most popular cities and towns for retirement are in warmer climes. There are plenty of new faces too - 12 new cities made the list this year. If you are looking for great places to retire, this is the place to start. Columbia, MO
This small college town (#62 on this year's list) has the things that make Tennessee retirements so appealing - low taxes and cost of living, small town appeal, and outstanding recreation opportunities in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains. Maryville College has a huge and beautiful campus in the town center
Gainesville, GA
Goodyear, situated west of Phoenix, exploded in size between 2000 and 2010 because of cheap land and the large planned communities being built here. For recreation there are two baseball  spring training  teams, plus golf, the mountains, and the beautiful desert.

What's going on with retirement  - it seems to be a white-hot theme for the movies these days.  "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ", "Quartet", "Amour" are some successful recent examples on the big screen,  while "Kings Point" is an Oscar-nominated short documentary. We've provided a brief review of the latter in this article, but what we really need is your input for a new article. What are your favorite movies about retirement ("High Noon", "On Golden Pond", etc.)? Please share your thoughts - if we get enough input we'll have a special article on the subject next week!
